Isobel Mair School leads the way in providing touch technology education in ScotlandAdventi, Scotland’s fastest growing IT services business, is delighted to announce that one of its customers - Isobel Mair school - is leading the way in providing touch technology education in Scotland.
The Isobel Mair school is well known in academia circles as an award winning Special Needs School. The school takes an holistic approach to the education of students aged 5-18 years who have a wide range of difficulties. An enthusiastic supporter of interactive technologies, the school was the first school in Great Britain to be awarded SMART showcase status in recognition of the school’s enthusiasm and effective use of SMART products to improve student outcomes.
The school has now installed two SMART Tables in recognition of the role touch technology is playing in supporting the educational needs of its pupils. Teachers have witnessed how the Table has helped students who normally have difficulty interacting in the classroom become more involved in the lesson and express themselves more openly. Headteacher Mari Wallace comments “The introduction of the SMART Table has facilitated a step-change in pedagogy at the school and has helped us to create an extraordinary 21st-century learning environment where students can collaborate, communicate and cultivate critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, all while interacting in a fun and engaging way.”
Isobel Mair chose Adventi as its IT partner of choice because of the service they receive and the knowledge the staff have on how SMART products meet the requirements of special education needs students. Andy Torrance, Deputy CEO of Adventi comments “It is a pleasure working with such a forward thinking school as Isobel Mair school. They are passionate about how touch technology is leading the way in improving educational outcomes.”

Adventi continues to invest in educationFriday 24th April
Adventi, Scotland’s fastest growing IT services business, today announced that it would present at the forthcoming IT4U Conference at Heriott Watt University.
In a unique collaboration, Edinburgh, Heriott Watt and Napier Universities have joined forces with local employers to encourage today’s schoolchildren to become tomorrow’s computing professionals. Adventi’s workshop will focus on building applications for the iPhone platform.
Earlier today, Eddie Chance CEO of Adventi commented, “We are delighted to be associated with this event. From an Adventi perspective it accomplishes two things; firstly, it supports our CSR focus in helping provide enhanced learning experiences for children in schools but more importantly we are keen to ensure today’s’ schoolchildren come face to face with the opportunities that computing presents. In the next few weeks we will be announcing the details of our iPhone application competition and the workshop we will present will challenge the young people with identifying ideas for new iPhone applications. The best ideas will be taken forward and there will be an opportunity to see these applications commercialised.
The IT4U event takes place at Heriott Watt University on 28th May 2009.
