Adventi signs major broadband support deal with BT
Press Release - 31/07/2004

Adventi, one of Scotland's fastest growing IT companies, has signed a ground-breaking deal with BT to bolster support and security for Scotland's SMEs.

Chris Duff, Adventi's technology director, who signed the deal late on Friday evening, said: "This alliance is ideal for us and now places us as one of the leaders in the IT support space in Scotland."

Adventi, with offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, will provide the on-the-ground support so that BT can deliver its innovative Broadband Office packages to the large number of SME businesses in Scotland.

BT is one of the largest players in the SME market place, with nearly 250,000 business signing up to IT broadband services, but increasingly BT see smart and dynamic IT companies such as Adventi as a direct way of meeting its customer expectations.

Duff explained that small business have normally had to house a computer server in their own premises, unlike many larger organisations that use outsourced technology companies to host their servers.

"BT together with Adventi are offering the small business of up to 15 people the kind of support that a major PLC might expect from its outsourced host company."

"Why house your own servers when, for a fraction of the cost, you can have it hosted by BT. This deal will give small companies a much greater sense of security," said Duff.

BT has asked Adventi to set the programme up in Scotland and it will be rolling it out across the rest of the UK in September added Duff.

BT already offers its Broadband Office Complete package in conjunction with Microsoft. Adventi now become an approved partner.

Rocky Mahajan, General Manager, Strategy and Business Development, with BT Retail, said: "BT is delighted to welcome Adventi to our associate programme. By working with BT, Adventi can gain access to reliable, cost effective products and services – reinforced by the confidence provided through working alongside one of the world's most successful communications suppliers."

Jim Spowart, the chief executive of Adventi, said: "I see this as a breakthrough for us. We have been working hard on winning business in the SME market and this is the kind of deal that puts Adventi onto a higher level."
